Come and join with others who are passionate about seeing children, young people, and families discover the difference Jesus can make in their lives. We have lots of different opportunities. There's something for everyone!!

Volunteering could be the most fun and rewarding thing you will have ever done! It is a great way to:

  • - form long-lasting bonds across generations and denominations,
  • - be challenged and encouraged to serve God in your area of gifting or talent and
  • - develop your skills, talents, and gifts while gaining practical experience working with children, youth, and families and developing scripture engagement resources.

We are always looking for people who share our vision to get involved in working with children, youth, and families and also to provide all of the other vital support tasks that allow us to deliver such a diverse range of activities.

The desired personal qualities of a volunteer worker are that one should be Christian, committed to God, and regularly attend a church.

The National Volunteer Workers Summit of the Scripture Union of Kenya is an annual event that brings together the organization's volunteers, members, and staff, including those in diaspora, for a conference to look towards the future and stay rooted in the organizations’ aims and objectives.

Our volunteer workers are in the following categories:

  • - Writers who are involved in writing and editing Bible reading materials;
  • - Patrons, mostly Christian teachers in schools, who oversee Scripture Union Bible clubs and the Program for Pastoral Instruction;
  • - Scripture Union committees and board members who oversee Scripture Union work across various levels and in different parts of the country;
  • - Resource mobilizers and supporters who mobilize capital and human resources to rally support for the organization's cause;
  • - Intercessors who dedicate their time to continuously pray for the ministry ;
  • - School Volunteers who visit schools to assist, monitor, and carry out faith formation programs;
  • - Camp and VBS facilitators and trainers who volunteer on a short-term basis;
  • - Readers of our publications, including Daily Guide, Daily Power, God & Me Daily Power, iVangeli, and Life Skill materials, and
  • - Researchers who create and disseminate new and essential knowledge on significant issues and trends in children, families, and Bible ministry.

We have year-round volunteer opportunities available in the majority of the counties. We also have regular, shorter-term opportunities working with our regional teams.

Being a volunteer worker involves being a part of the organization as a whole, not just the activity itself. Although we have some full-time employees, Scripture Union is primarily a volunteer movement, and it is our volunteers who carry out the majority of our ministry.

We thank God for our incredible story, which spans more than 150 years of working with a small staff team and a large number of volunteers, which has been made possible by encouraging a volunteer-friendly environment.
